Happy Tails!
Augie
"Rescued from Death Row"
We received a call just prior to Augie's scheduled euthanasia.  He'd failed his behavioral test at the shelter and had run out of options. Meagan Karnes, president and senior behaviorist at The Collared Scholar, a San Diego based dog training and behavior modification company stepped up to help.

T
oday Augie is in his forever home.  His foster parents recently wrote this... He continues to be a joy in our lives and we can only hope we bring half as much joy to his life. Augie is a perfect little gentleman. People love to pet him and he's quite the conversation starter.
Alfie
"Abandoned at the vet's office with orders to die"
Alfie was dropped off at the veterinarian's office with instructions to either euthanize him or find him another home; "we don't want him anymore".  He had lived out most of his short life in the back yard used only for breeding.  Clearly he had never known the love of a human family.  Fortunately RRI got the call from the vet's office and rushed in to help!

opted in to a wonderful home Alfie couldn't be happier.  This photo was taken by his Mom who is also a photographer.  Here's what Ji and Gabriel, Alfie's parents had to say... we're so, so happy and in love with Alfie and he seems to be content living the high life with us...
Lolli
"
Is she worth rescuing or should we put her down? Asked her owner of 9 years."
We were contacted about Lolli when her "owner" couldn't figure out whether to have her "put down" or turn her over to a rescue.  After being attacked by a coyote on two separate occasions then kept outside in a pen Lolli's owners were concerned about her aggression towards other animals....

Today, Lolli is the apple of her "Mom's" eyes.  She recently had to have her leg amputated  due to a tumor.  Her new family never thought "putting her down" was an option.  She is family now!

Dex
"We can't keep him at the shelter any longer, he is very sick!"

Hard to imagine that no one was looking for this handsome boy  Rescued from the shelter ; he had kennel cough and giardia.  He was so distraught he would just cry and cry!  Dex needed a very special home...  He was so traumatized by his shelter experience he couldn't bear to be left by himself.  Who would want a dog that cried and barked when left alone?

His new Mama would!  Lorilynn had just lost her beloved terrier unexpectedly.  She loved her dogs so much that she built them an indoor kennel so they would feel safe.  She took them everywhere she went!  She fell in love with Dex and he with her!
Emma
"We live in constant fear of the next fight!"
Emma and her brother were therapy dogs at John Muir Hospital. After her brother went blind Emma just couldn't do it without him.  Home all day she began to pick fights with another family dog.  Emma's family lived in constant fear of when the next fight was gong to break out.  They decided the best thing for Emma was to find her a home where she could be the only dog.

When Jeff saw Emma's picture on our web site he knew she was the dog they had been looking for.  Described by her new Dads as a "Gem", Emma has no problem being the Queen Bee in her new home.  They are so thankful that Emma's family made the decision to re-home her.
Enzo
"We need to make room for the animals being displaced by the Wildfire!"
During the CA wildfires the Pasadena Shelter desperately needed to make room for animals whose families had been evacuated.  They called out to local rescues and RRI-CA answered the call.  Enzo had been abandoned in a local park a few nights earlier and was shy and scared.  Fosters Debi and Ken stepped up to take him with 30 minutes advance notice:)

A few weeks later we received the perfect application from John; he had recently lost his JRT and best friend to he and his Dachshund.  Both were hurting and longing for a new friend. John and Zuzu met Enzo and the rest is history.  Although they have 3 beds to choose from Enzo and Zuzu prefer to snuggle up together.
